Yukiko Ishida D.M.A., coloratura soprano, was born in Kumamoto, Japan. She received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Education from Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, Japan.
She studied with Dr. Elizabeth Vandasper in London, specializing in the Dalcroze System. Ms. Ishida earned her Master's degree in Voice at Temple University, studying with Dr. Philip Cho. She earned her doctorate in Musical Arts from Combs College of Music with Dolores Ferraro. She continued her voice study with David Lofton in U.S.A., Magda Lazlo, Arigo Pola, Eugenio Furlotti and Rafaele Cortesi in Italy.
Dr. Ishida won numerous awards, including the Combs College Centennial Award, the Liberace Competition, the Cascarino Memorial Competition and the Mario Lanza Competition. She is an associate Professor of music at Neumann College, Artistic Director of the Neumann College Concert Chorale and Minister of Music at Union Methodist Church in Havertown, PA.
For several summers, she was the vocal instructor of an International Chamber Festival in Evian, France and director of the Chitose Higher Education in Japan. She coordinates, conducts and performs for various charities including the Kobe Earthquake Victims Fund, Ukrainian Disaster Relief, 9/11 Memorial concerts and other charitable events.
Dr. Ishida's two compact discs are "American Jewels" and "World Music Standard Collection" with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. Her orchestral repertoire includes "Te Deum" by Dvorak, "Mass of the Children" and ""Requiem" by Rutter "Mass in G Major" by Schubert, "A German Requiem" by Brahms, "Carmina Burana" by Orff, "Exsultate, Jubilate" by Mozart, "Poeme de l'amour et de la mer" by Chausson, "Symphony No.4 in G Major" by Mahler, and "Concerto for coloratura soprano" by Gliere.
She has performed recitals in France, Germany, Italy, Japan, U.S.A. (FL, GE, IL, MD, NJ, NY, PA, RI).
She appeared as a soloist with the Czech National Orchestra in Prague, St. Giles Orchestra in Oxford, England, Chitose Symphony Orchestra in Chitose, the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra in Sapporo, Japan, National Philharmonic in Washington. DC, Delaware County Symphony Orchestra in PA. U.S.A.
